April 2011 – Newbury Piret participates in “Business Investment Seminar - Entering the U.S. Market” hosted by the European American Chamber of Commerce – France that took place at the Cabinet Wragge [Paris France]. The speakers included Aaron S. Brickman, Director - Invest in America, U.S. Department of Commerce; Brian McGowan, Deputy Assistant Secretary - U.S. Department of Commerce, who gave a presentation entitled “Invest in America“ (in English); Scott Hall, Assistant Director - Virginia Beach Economic Development Office, who gave a presentation entitled “Case Examples of Growth Industry Sectors for 2011” (in English); Eliot Norman, Director - International Practice Group, Williams Mullen, who gave a presentation entitled “Top 5 Legal Tips for your U.S. Investment Project”  (in French); and John Piret, Managing Director - Newbury Piret & Co., who gave a presentation entitled « Financement transfrontalier » [Cross-Border Financing] (in French).
 
April 2011 - John Piret and Eliot Norman [Williams Mullen, Washington DC] give a seminar entitled “Invest in the United States; Strategies for Market Entry and Business Expansion in 2011 - Cross-Border Financing” that was hosted by the law firm Aklea [Lyon France].
 
March 2011 - John Piret is elected to Board of Directors of the European-American Chamber of Commerce – France. “The objective of the European American Chamber of Commerce (France), formerly French American Chamber of Commerce (FACC), is to develop and cultivate strong economic relationships between the European Union and the United States of America” [from the EACC France website].
 
March 2011 – John Piret was a speaker, along with JoAnn Morelli, North America HR Zone Director of Essilor, and Stephan Dietrich, Co-founder and President of Neolane, Inc., on a panel entitled “Opportunities and Challenges to International Business Development in New England” moderated by Steven Eichel [Choate, Hall & Stewart] at the First French-American Business Forum in New England, hosted by the French-American Chamber of Commerce of New England (FACCNE) and taking place at the offices of Choate, Hall & Stewart in Boston, MA.
